Wright Brothers 1903 Kitty Hawk Photograph And Fabric Relic To Be Sold

A photograph of the Wright Flyer from 1903 and fabric segment also including an inscription by Orville Wright that reads, This little piece of wing covering did its part in lifting the plane in this flight. O.W., will be sold by Cordier Auctions on Saturday, Feb. 25. The artifact was consigned to Cordier by a York, Pa., individual whose grandmother, Mrs. John (Bess) Daugherty, served on the Wright Library Board of Directors with Orville Wright from 1923 to 1946. Also included in the familys consignment is a large photographic image of the Wright flyer and plane hangar at Kitty Hawk along with Christmas cards from Orville Wright to the Daugherty family. The historical relic will be sold in Cordiers Fine and Decorative Arts Auction. Also featured in the auction will be La Mariee by Marcel DuChamp (French, 1887-1968), a Thomas Moser Windward sofa and chair, and a 1.56-carat platinum diamond ring.
